Muslin Cloth Diaper

Properties

• Lightweight, breathable fabric.
• It is a versatile fabric that is adapted into diaper pants,  a shawl, a napkin, a handkerchief, a saliva cloth, a turban, a veil, or a bed linen, etc.
• Light weight, easy to carry.
• Inexpensive

Limitation

• The fabric is quite lightweight, so it does not absorb a lot of liquid when the cloth is worn as a diaper. When the cloth is wet, it must immediately be changed. If left unchecked, irritation, which is the main cause of diaper rash, may occur.
• Muslin cloth diapers cannot absorb liquid. Therefore, if the baby pees or poops, they will become irritable and cry often. This can cause distress in the mother. 
• Washing the cloth dirty with excrement takes more time and effort than normal laundry. The use of cloth diapers comes with this difficulty.
• In the laundry process, if a detergent that is too concentrated is used, and not rinsed thoroughly, there may be negative effects. 
• In case of rainy season, the cloth may not dry properly and retain dampness, causing fungus, as well as not having enough diapers for everyday usage.

• When the baby is sleeping more comfortably, it will positively affect the emotional and mental state of the child and parents.
• In the case of single parents, the reduced frequency of changing diapers and abolishing the need for washing diapers means more personal time for work, errands, and rest.

Limitation

• It is a long-term investment until the baby can let the parents know they need to go to the toilet or actually use the toilet. This also includes the issue of bed-wetting. However, nowadays, disposable  diapers are less expensive and there are often promotional prices. 
• When choosing diapers, the quality must be taken into consideration and you should trial products to determine which brand is suitable for your baby’s skin.
• Care should be taken when disposing of the diapers, and the hygiene of the family and the environment should be taken into account.
